Interesting article on where VR is already being used in the insurance industry. The possibility of putting this technology to use in the future seems very feasible and, dare I say it, really quite exciting!
Already, VR tech is being used by the insurance industry for risk management. Travelers has teamed with AppliedVR to develop a safety training program to reduce accidents in the manufacturing plants and warehouses it insures, as Fortune explains. It’s a first-person 3D video game where workers get to fly around a warehouse like a superhero, saving their co-workers from potential work-related accidents — needless to say, the overall response has been positive. Moreover, VR brings some significant cost savings to the table: underwriters no longer have to physically travel to different locations before offering coverage, as Business Insurance USA explains — it allows them to perform inspections remotely. Agencies can now do more with a smaller team (and train that team more efficiently), which saves on staffing and other HR-related costs.
