Over the last few months I've attended several client events and seminars run by IFAs.  I'm not a client of any of them; I was very kindly invited either as a friend or because it's a firm I've been working with.

It's really exciting to see that seminars and client events are once again growing in popularity, and it's not surprising...

I was invited to such an event on Friday last week and it was eye-opening to listen to their private clients telling me about the relationship they had with the financial planning firm concerned.

Not one of the clients mentioned the words 'financial planning', 'investments' or 'pensions', but all of them used words like 'relationship', 'friendship', 'like family', 'many years', 'fun' and even 'great biscuits'!

The event itself was to celebrate a milestone in the firm's history and attracted a mixture of long-standing clients, local business people and 'hangers on' like me.

The celebration was held outside with fantastic food, drinks and a musician - and this followed recent seminars that the firm had held on inheritance planning.

What was noticeable, was that this firm of financial planners are also no slouches when it comes to using the internet and Social Media as part of their communication mix.

And that's the key...  a carefully thought-through blend of live events and internet marketing perfectly compliment each other
